"Tank - the most fatty target": the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces told about combat work on M777 and SAU M109

To extend: from the beginning of a full-scale invasion of serviceman Andrew, commander of a self-propelled artillery platoon of the 23rd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces, managed to work on two key artillery systems-towing M777 and self-propelled installation M10l. In an interview with the Armyinform, he told what the goals were struck in different periods of the war and what tasks are facing Ukrainian artillery today.

According to Andrew, he began the artillery service before the war began, in the 55th separate artillery brigade, where he worked on the Soviet 152mm gun 2A36 "Hiacint-B". In May 2022, the unit received American 155 mm howitzers M777, after which the mobility and accuracy of fire increased. "This gun itself is accurate, but the accuracy of the hit depends on the gunpowder that we are given.

Well, if it rains, then in the swamp during the shot M777 moves in place, and because of this accuracy is slightly reduced. And so, in general, the gun is simple, not difficult, easy to transport it. Of the M777, Ukrainian artillerymen actively destroyed ammunition depots, fuel, command and surrounding points, and fought. But the most rare and valuable goal was an enemy tank struck by direct hit from the fifth shot. "The greatest, perhaps, the goal when they worked on the M777 was a tank.

It was a direct hit. He left for a fire border, and we were struck by 5 shots. It is actually a very rare case," the commander said. Now Andrew serves in the 23rd Mehbrygadi, where his unit works on the M109L self-propelled installation. According to him, according to the characteristics, it is close to M777, but due to self -profit gives more flexibility in battle. Among the current goals are the enemy's living power at the front edge and the position of operators of enemy UAVs.
