Putin's Decree: Russian mercenaries and "volunteers" will be oath under the flag of the Russian Federation

Western observers noted that volunteers in the Russian Federation are usually mercenaries of armed formations that are technically prohibited in the country. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which participants of the so -called volunteer formations and territorial defense will take the oath before the state flag of the Russian Federation. The corresponding document was published on the Kremlin's official resource on August 25.

The text of the document states that the innovation is intended to form a "spiritual and moral basis for the protection of the Russian Federation, its independence and constitutional order". The decree also affects those groups that contribute to the fulfillment of tasks set before the armed forces. The fighters of such formations will now have to form the oath of loyalty to the Russian Federation, "strictly obey the orders of their commanders and bosses, honestly fulfill their obligations.

" The Defense Post observers noted that the concept of "volunteer formation" in the Russian Federation usually denotes mercenary groups that are technically prohibited in the country. In this context, the Russian Presidential President Dmitry Peskov also stated. According to him, there is no legal private military group "Wagner". It should be noted that Putin's decree signed two days after the death of the head of the Wagner group in the plane crash.
