EU countries were unable to approve a new package of sanctions against Russia - Borrel

According to the EU Diplomacy Head, the Allies have not currently formed a single position on the introduction of restrictions. The discussion of this issue will continue. The Ministers of the European Union will continue to discuss sanctions against Russia, since the restriction has not been approved. This was stated by the EU's High Representative on Foreign and Security Policy of Josep Borrel on the eve of a meeting of foreign ministers in Luxembourg, Interfax-Ukraine reports on April 24.

He noted that discussions on 11 packages of sanctions against the Russian Federation are ongoing. It is expected that a list of restrictions will still be approved at the EU Council meeting. The diplomat, according to the agency, has not currently formed positions regarding the introduction of restrictions. The discussion of this issue will continue. We will remind, on April 21 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey explained why sanctions against the Russian Federation were not imposed.

The head of the department Mevlut Chavushoglu hinted that the country's position on the issue of the Russian-Ukrainian war is the most objective in the world. He stated that despite the support of Ukraine, the Turks should put their own interests above. Also in Austria, April 21 voiced the amount of frozen Russian assets. Since the beginning of the full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, Austria has frozen nearly 2 billion euros of financial assets of the Russian Federation.

On April 20, Bloomberg reported that the US and allies could completely ban exports to Russia. G7 officials discuss this idea on the eve of the leaders' summit in Japan in May. It is planned to ban almost all exports, only some options will be possible.
