Biden approved the transfer of unstable mines to Ukraine who can slow down the offensive of the Russian Federation - WP

According to journalists, Kyiv asked anti -personnel mines for three years. The Armed Forces will receive so -called "unstable" mines, which are deactivated for a while. This is a lower danger to the civilian population. US Presidential Administration Joe Baiden has approved the transfer of anti -personnel mines to Ukraine. This decision was made against the background of the threat of a Russian breakthrough in Donetsk region. About it reports The Washington Post with reference to its sources.

It is noted that Washington "is deeply concerned about the Russian offensive on Ukrainian advanced lines in recent weeks and sees the urgent need to restrain it. " Pentagon representatives believe that anti -personnel mines, along with other weapons, will slow down the promotion of Russian troops. According to the publication, the Armed Forces will receive so -called "unstable" mines, which after some time are deactivated. They are less danger to civilian population.

Journalists say that more than 160 countries have signed an international agreement on the ban on the use of such weapons systems. The document states that a non -selective weapon can cause significant damage to the civilian population. At the same time, the first request from Kiev to these mines came from the beginning of the invasion of the Russian Federation, that is, almost three years ago. At the same time, Russian troops are free to change the territory on the front line.
