In Germany, on Tuesday, August 30, searches at Riol Chemie GmbH and RR Rhein Reserve (registered by former Riol Chemie), suspected of sales of chemicals that can be used to produce chemical and biological weapons. About it reports OCCRP. According to the investigation, Riol Chemie could supply chemicals and laboratory equipment to the Russian Gimmed companies without export permission for the last three and a half years.

According to Tagesschau, searches were traveled in seven companies and private premises. Video Day NDR, Westdeutscher Rundfunk and Süddeutsche Zeitung found that the substance delivered by the company could be used to manufacture weapons, including mustard gas (IDIPIT). Also, the former head of Riol Chemie was a co -owner of a subsidiary of Chemmed, and the current manager was the director of the same "daughter".

According to the documents obtained by OCCRP, the investigation suggests that among the chemicals set was a precursor of the nerve-paralytic substance, which was used when trying to kill the former GRU employee Sergei Skripal in 2018 in the United Kingdom, as well as Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny in 2020. OCCRP also received documents confirming that in 2016, Chemmed became a contractor of the FSB Forensics Institute.

Chemmed is also included in the list of companies that have been sanctioned by US for "participating in Russian programs for the development of weapons of mass destruction. " OCCRP writes that the substances supplied by Riol Chemie to Russia are considered to be "double -purpose", that is, they can be used for both military and civilian purposes.
