The air defense will not cover neither Boryspil nor Lviv: what experts say about the restoration of airplaces in Ukraine

Civil aviation is allowed in Ukraine in 2024 in Ukraine. Experts believe that the risks are too high, even for Uzhgorod Airport, which is located near the border with Slovakia. Focus found out why the authorities were building forecasts for the restoration of airplaces. In Ukraine, they talked again about the restoration of flights.

According to the NSDC Secretary Alexei Danilov, civilian flights can be launched next year, if it is possible to resolve issues with the protection of airports, insurance and companies that will fly. There are now several proposals on how to restore airlines in Ukraine. There are four key tasks that you need to solve. "First, it is the protection of those airfields where they decide to start using aircraft. Secondly, the infrastructure must be ready.

A mechanism of insurance must be involved because no one will do it without insurance. Well, which is a company that It will take flights, it is also a question, " - explained Danilov. The issue of restoring airplaces in Ukraine during a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation was discussed more than once. In July 2023, Israeli media reported that Ukrainian officials allegedly flew to Israel to discuss the opening of airports in the event of rocket threats.

Among the possible options was considered the airport in Lviv, as the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation strikes less rockets and UAVs in the city because of distance from the border. "Israel is the only country in the world that operates an airport under rocket shelling. Ukrainian officials have studied various protocols, such as the aircraft should take off during air anxiety," journalists reported.

Representatives of the Ukrainian authorities did not officially comment on the visit to Israel. Dmitry Kushpil, Head of the Aviation Transport Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, said Focus that he knew nothing about the trip. They were not aware of the visit and people's deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.

At the same time, the state -owned company "UkSATSER" confirmed that Ukrainian airplanes are preparing to open the sky for civil aviation - but after the full -scale war with Russia. However, the topic of restoring airports during the Great War continues to appear in the information space from time to time. And thoughts about how, when and why you need to restore the operation of airports, and most importantly, whether you need to differentiate.

One of the safest options is the experts called the Uzhgorod Airport, as the airfield is close to the border with Slovakia - the NATO country. In July 2022, the Transcarpathian Regional Council allocated UAH 26 million to restore the infrastructure facility. The head of the regional council said with confidence that Uzhgorod will become the only airport in Ukraine to function for passenger transportation, because the runway begins with Slovakia and ends with Slovakia.

A year later, in the summer of 2023, Air Ocean Airlines said that she was ready to restore flights from Uzhgorod if he receives the appropriate permission. However, in Transcarpathian ova proposals were commented unambiguously. They stated that by the end of the war on the restoration of the airport there could be no question, because the safety of civilians is higher than the business interests of the carrier, and the arguments "for" opening "Uzhgorod" were ghostly.

Another airport, which was viewed as one of the possible options for the restoration of airlines is the airport in Lviv. In the fall of 2022, the Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov said that the object would be the first to be able to restore work. In the summer of 2023, the Lviv Ova reported that the airport could be opened in part as a humanitarian corridor.

"This issue has been raised, and we hope that the humanitarian corridor, which can be provided with the European Union, could be so as a grain corridor," said the head of the Ova Ova Maxim Kozitsky. However, the Air Force of Ukraine noted that in the event of work restoration, the airport in Lviv will become the main goal for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Our country does not have enough air defense systems to ensure airfield safety.

In early December 2023, the chairman of the OP Andriy Yermak stated that Boryspil Airport would soon be able to send and receive aircraft. "This return to the elements of peace is possible because Ukraine has become stronger. Now we are able to ensure the safety They will become real, "Yermak said.

His deputy Andrei Sibiga added that Boryspil was the first object to be closed at the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, and he will become the first to open as soon as a security situation. At the same time, Yermak's adviser Mikhail Podolyak commented on a sensational statement by the head of the OP more restrained. He noted that the opening of Boryspil Airport is desirable, but still unattainable.

The process can be discussed, preparations for possible restoration of work may be underway, but so far the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have not reduced the intensity of shelling. And security should be in the first place. That same month, the airport, which suspended from the beginning of a full -scale invasion, opened vacancies. Aircraft commanders, flight attendants, radar and navigation engineers, dispatchers were invited to work.

Boryspil emphasized that passenger transportation will only be restored when it will allow the level of safety. According to a leading researcher at the State Museum of Aviation of Ukraine, Avayexpert Valery Romanenko, it is dangerous to restore the work of any of the Ukrainian airports during a full-scale invasion. "I do not see any reason why airports need to be restored during the war, taking into account all the risks. If they agree with Putin - it is possible.

In other cases, no," says Focus Romanenko. The expert adds that the only option to realize the plan is to negotiate with Western partners so that they set the air defense near the Uzhgorod Airport and ensured its protection. "Boryspil" - we will not cover, we do not have an extra Patriot system to put near the airport. Lviv - too. The evacuation of passengers from the plane by inflatable ladders takes 90 seconds. On the "sleeves" - a few minutes.

Iskander's flow time, launched from the Bryansk region - a few minutes. In addition to getting out of the aircraft, you need to get to the bomb shelter. It is difficult to physically organize a similar process, it is impossible to carry out during the war, "Romanenko continues. Political expert Igor Reityrovich believes that one of the reasons why the authorities again spoke about the restoration of airplaces in Ukraine-signals to foreign investors.

We need to show that we are intensified by air defense, we can feel so confidently that sooner or later we will open the airports. Secondly, it is a signal to investors. We want to show that the situation is difficult, but we work on its normalization. The launch of one of the airports would be a powerful signal that Ukraine can cooperate in the economic direction. Now the end of the year, investors are making plans. That is why we voice such statements.
