"I will see Ukraine's victory with my own eyes": History of the Armed Forces Sapper who lost his sight under Bakhmut (video)

The guy was exchanging the territory when the ammunition was being detonated, which were about to blow up. As a result, he was seriously injured. Vladislav Yeshchenko-a 24-year-old serviceman of the 104 Bakhmut Terroborons Battalion, with the beginning of the war, volunteered to exchange territories in eastern Ukraine. As a result of the detonation of ammunition, he lost his eyes, but continued to live fully, created a charitable foundation "We will see a victory" and actively helps the blind.

He told how Vladislav lives in an interview for RBC-Ukraine. Prior to a full -scale invasion of Vladislav Yeshchenko, he worked in the British Mission for the HALO TRUST mine. When Russia attacked Ukraine, the guy volunteered to the Armed Forces. In the time ravine, where he was stored from Slavyansk, he learned that he had the experience of Saper, so he was offered to work in this specialty - he agreed. His unit worked in Donetsk region.

"Why did it go? It is impossible when it happens in the country, relatives and relatives in danger and the whole country is in danger to stay and wait for someone to decide for themselves," Vladislav says. On August 9, in the Bakhmut area, his unit was given the task of mine in the village of Bogdanivka, which is near Bakhmut. Three sappers worked on the spot. "We arrived at a place where everything was lit by PFM-1 (anti-personnel fugas mines," Lepstone ")-a field, black soil.

It was necessary to exchang this territory. Made a hole in order to isolate ammunition and undermined. holes were already 84 units, the self -liquidation of one ammunition worked, resulting in undermining all others. I was directly next to this hole. Immediate Soberly, " - says Vladislav. After the explosion, Vladislav called for help, and two brothers came to help. They called the evacuation team, and the wounded defender was sent to the hospital.

The defender was conscious after 10 days in a hospital in Kiev - he was in a coma all these days. Native boyfriend was looking for him all this time. They became aware that first the wounded Vladislav was taken to the Mechnikov hospital in the Dnieper, where he was removed. "When I was conscious, there were 2 moments that separated me from reality - I was under the influence of strong painkillers and was in complete darkness and in deafness. I felt myself, fingers, hands, legs - all in place.

The only one is left. Understand - whether the eye is in place, "the guy says. He says that doctors did not give a direct answer to his questions about his eyes and constantly translated the topic of conversation, so he began to guess that he had lost his sight. The first thing about the loss of his eyes was informed by his father. "I asked him the most simple and direct question:" What I have with my eyes? ". " To what he answered: "You have no son, you have not been deleted.

" And we immediately changed the topic of conversation, "Vladislav said. More than 30 debris was received from the body of the boy after the wound, and now he has a plate in the jaw due to serious fractures. Vladislav was also installed hearing aids due to hearing loss. After the wound, the boy was very supported by his girl and father. With the latter, they enrolled in the gym and spend a lot of time together. Despite the injury, the guy now lives a full life and helps others who have lost sight.

"It was the most terrible to become a burden for everyone - it was destroyed, it was difficult for me to put up with it. The idea came to create a charitable organization" Let's see a victory. " Even when I had a sight I didn't see so many prospects to do good as I see now. I will see our victory with my eyes and make everyone a blind man. I really want to see my whole family, sit with them at the table and tell everyone "Thank you,"-says Vladislav.
