"Despite Ban": NATO calls South Korea for direct supply of weapons to Ukraine

South Korea adheres to a policy that prohibits the export of weapons to the warring countries. But NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg cited the example of Germany, Norway and Sweden, which changed their policies to help Ukraine. On Monday, January 30, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, during his speech at the Cheya Promising Research Institute, appealed to the South Korean leadership to review the current policy to ban the export of weapons to warring countries, CNN reports.

In his statement, Stoltenberg called on South Korea for greater and specific activity in military support to Ukraine and cited some European countries in the example, which previously complied with similar prohibition measures. "A number of NATO allies who adhered to a policy that forbid weapons export to the conflict countries have now been reviewing such a policy," Stoltenberg said. NATO Secretary General mentioned Germany, Norway and Sweden, candidate for joining the Alliance.

All these countries began to provide Ukraine with military assistance against the ban that existed before. According to him, if we believe in freedom and democracy, if we do not want to defeat autocracy and tyranny, then Ukraine needs to provide military assistance.

"When a full -scale invasion took place last year, many countries changed their policies, because they realized that the only way to defend democracy was to help Ukraine win and create conditions for strong peace through military support," Stoltenberg said. The decree of the President of South Korea, which guarantees the observance of the "Foreign Trade Law", states that exports are possible only for "peaceful purpose".

South Korea also signed the UN Trade Agreement, designed to control the supply of weapons and the terms of its use. Recall that the Armed Forces needed the F-16, as Putin conceived a dangerous escalation in Ukraine. According to the British analyst Michael Clark, the current successes of the Armed Forces on Earth are explained by the fact that the Russians do not control the air.
