Orthodox volunteers were sent to the city, which should change the building decoration to "bring the temple to the ROC canons. " In Mariupol, the occupying authorities took over the appearance of the unique temple of St. Peter Mohyla and the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is listed in the Book of Records of Ukraine as the only temple in the world, fully decorated with Petrikov painting. This was reported by the Mariupol City Council on Wednesday, November 6.

"The occupiers decided to" bring the temple to the canons of the ROC. " This temple, painted by the Lviv craftsman Olga Cheryomushkina, was restored to a full -scale invasion by volunteers at the expense of patrons. It is located in the Mariupol Primorsky district. During the Second World War, this building was a Bulaniets Commandant, and later became a personnel department of shipping.

From the outside, the temple is reminiscent of the ship, and the color and style of painting reflect, in particular, the symbol of the city - the sea. Blue is traditionally considered the Virgin, and the upper temple is named in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. After the capture of the city in 2022, the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) sent a commission that announced that the artistic decoration of the temple did not meet the requirements of the ROC.

Earlier, during the blockade of Mariupol, this temple served as a refuge for the civilian population. We will remind, on October 3 the Center for National Resistance informed that Russian invaders are erected in Mariupol the market of agricultural products, which will be a logistics hub for the export of stolen property in Ukraine.
