As the Russian news agency TASS reports with reference to the statement of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR), Western countries are allegedly discussing the possibility of placing the blame on Russia in the event of an incident at a nuclear plant. The SVR notes that NATO is allegedly calling on Kyiv to carry out sabotage, which could lead to casualties among Ukrainians and citizens of European Union countries, comparing the scenario with the MH17 plane crash.
According to Russian sources, British experts allegedly calculated that in the event of an accident, radioactive contamination could spread to the border areas of the EU. The SVR of the Russian Federation also claims that the option of sabotage at the Zaporizhia NPP with the risk of melting the active zone of its reactors is being discussed.
It is worth emphasizing that in its reports, Russia compares the possible incident with the MH17 disaster, although the international court found the militants controlled by Russia to be guilty of shooting down the Malaysian plane over Donetsk region. It is worth noting that there is currently no official reaction of NATO and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to the Kremlin's statement.
We will remind you that a month ago, Putin said that Ukraine was allegedly attacking the Zaporizhzhia NPP, calling it a "dangerous game" and threatening to strike the plants. The IAEA confirmed the threat to nuclear safety, and Putin accused the Armed Forces of obstructing the repair of the plant. In particular, on September 25, it became known that the Zaporizhzhya NPP was operating on emergency diesel generators due to the loss of external power supply, which posed a threat to nuclear safety.
