The Ka-226 multi-purpose helicopter of the local KEMZ Concern JSC was traveling from Kizlyar to Yzerbash, caught smoke on the way and crashed into a residential building around 2:40 p. m. Four passengers died on the spot. Local mass media reports that they "burned alive", three managed to get out and were hospitalized. The helicopter puffed up in the air over the village of Achi-Su.
According to the rules, the crew had to immediately start extinguishing the fire and go to land at the nearest airfield in Makhachkala. Local residents saw the plane circling in the sky and looking for a place to land. According to preliminary information, tourists flew to the Sulak Canyon and mountainous areas. The helicopter was heading to Izberbash and crashed near the "Sunny Beach" recreation center. Clouds of black smoke can be seen on the footage from the accident site.
The causes of the accident are still unknown. The Ka-226 helicopter is a modification of the Ka-26. The helicopter is designed to transport a small number of passengers or cargo up to 1. 3 tons. Crew: 1-2 people. Number of passengers: 4-7. Produced in the Russian Federation since 1997, it was originally equipped with Rolls-Royce engines.
