To spread: The United Kingdom has handed over all self-propelled AS-90 to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The British military completed their use. About it reports the profile edition of Army Technology. The last firing of 155th caliber artillery systems was in May 2024. It was initially planned to be decommissioned by 2030 so that their replacement happens without serious gaps in military capabilities.

Despite this, the AS-90 machines were written off earlier and temporarily replaced by 14 Swedish Artillery systems Archer, which were part of the 1st Regiment of Royal Equestrian Artillery. Currently, 14 Archer SAU is the only 155 mm caliber tool in the British army. Archer's wheel SAU is equipped with an automated self-propelled 155mm gun with a firing range up to 50 km. This is twice the range of AS-90 shooting.

According to the UK Ministry of Defense regarding the amount of equipment on the balance sheet, in 2023 the AS-90 systems were 57 units. In February 2024, their number decreased to 39 systems, as other specimens were transferred to Ukraine. In December 2024, the AS-90 SAU came into service with the 58th separate infantry brigade of the Armed Forces, and in the first quarter of 2025-the 117th separate heavy mechanized brigade.

In total, the United Kingdom handed over 68 AS-90 tranches to Ukraine in 2023, in April and September 2024. British artillery systems come both in the ammunition and both donors to repair the most suitable tools. The Armed Forces was elected this SAU for a relatively high level of localization and successful fire tests. AS-90 showed high firing, deployment and departure. The 1992 AS-90 commissioned was a major element of UK military operations for decades, including the 2003 war in Iraq.
