War has exhausted NATO stocks: Stoltenberg wants to increase military costs for "ambitious goals"

Alliance countries have prepared new plans for 155-caliber ammunition to support the Armed Forces and their own needs. Production should be increased further, because new and difficult tasks are ahead, NATO Secretary General. NATO countries reduce ammunition reserves, so more contracts with defense companies need to be signed. This was stated on June 2 by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg Bloomberg. Stoltenberg called on the North Atlantic Alliance to spend at least 2% of their GDP.

And signing contracts with defense producers will push investments in industry and increase production. Representatives of the defense industry, as noted by NATO Secretary General, were invited to a meeting of defense ministers in Brussels in late May to promote contacts. Stoltenberg hopes to agree the Allies on the plans of the defense industry at the July meeting in Vilnius. This arrangement should describe how to increase production and purchase.

NATO has agreed on new ammunition instructions, including 155 mm caliber, to continue the support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and its own needs. "Allies have exhausted stocks through the support of Ukraine. This is an unstable way. It is necessary to increase production to fulfill new and more ambitious goals," he added. Bloomberg emphasizes that according to the 2014 financial liability, the Allies agreed to spend 2% of NATO's GDP by 2024. Only eight of 31 members now fulfill this purpose.
