NATO Introduction, Peace Conditions and Kursk Operation: What Ukrainians think about negotiations with the Russian Federation

The vast majority believes that Russia needs to make efforts to put Ukraine at the negotiation table. The level of support for EU and NATO has increased markedly among the population. Most Ukrainians believe that NATO's accession will make it impossible for new aggression from Russia. This is evidenced by the results of an all -Ukrainian survey conducted by the Democratic Initiatives Fund. Ilka Kucheriv and the Sociological Service of the Razumkov Center.

The survey was conducted from November 29 to December 14, 2024. The number of respondents has 1518 people, all of them are adults. "The proportion of respondents who disagree that the offensive operation of the Armed Forces in the Kursk region has increased the chances of Ukraine in negotiations, is growing with age," the authors said. The most negative Kursk operation was evaluated in the south. Those who have relatives in the occupation also found more skepticism in this matter.

Compared to June 2023, the share of ready -to -support Ukraine's accession to NATO, despite the occupied territories, increased by 14%. To accept this option agree 47%, the opposite opinion is maintained by 36% of respondents. The categoricality in this issue was mostly displayed by respondents, who: 55% of those polled consider the best security guarantee of security in the Alliance. Neutral status with international guarantees supported 12% of respondents.

The least popularity among the respondents had a non -aligned status with a restriction of defense capabilities and a rate only on their own. At the same time, 60% of people are convinced that NATO accession is capable of protecting Ukraine from a re -attack of the Russian Federation.
