The Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg has not operated since the beginning of 2022 after the invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. The company was bought by an unnamed Russian company. Large car manufacturers continue to leave the Russian market. Hyundai sold its plant in St. Petersburg, which has not been operating since the beginning of 2022. This was reported on The Korea Times. The plant in St. Petersburg was bought by an unnamed Russian company.

The amount of the agreement is also not disclosed, but some other details are known. Hyundai was able to buy their plant back for two years. They also committed Renault and Nissan in 2022. "We have already formed all the decisions to purchase Hyundai. The buyer will be a local company," said the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov. It is known that up to 200 thousand cars can be produced at the plant. Solaris, Creta and Kia Rio were collected before the enterprise closure.
