Craze in the Kerch Strait: Tanker owner with fuel oil in the Russian Federation fined $ 215

To spread: Kama Shiping, which operates Volgoneft tankers, was fined in the Russian court for violation of maritime regulations. The defendant's representative did not admit the fault of the company. The Court in Krasnodar found Kama Shipping to fail to comply with the documents that regulate the terms of navigation, which could cause the Tanker Volgoneft-212 accident in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024. About it writes the Russian edition "Kommersant".

As the prosecutor's office explained, the company operated a mixed vessel with violations. The department noted that vessels that are allowed to walk in rivers and seas have a limited swimming season. In particular, the Volgoneft-212 tanker can be in the water area all year long, and in the sea-only until November 30. At the same time, the ship continued to operate in the Azov and Black Sea contrary to the terms.

The defendant's representative did not admit the fault of the company, explaining that the stay of the tanker in the sea beyond the navigation dates is associated with a failure of the schedule of work of the ship. According to Kama Shiping, on November 18, the tanker stood an anchor near the port of the Caucasus, and only on December 3, the port of Porta put Volgoneft-212 in a queue for unloading. The process was delayed due to the accumulation of vessels.

The tanker had no opportunity to leave the sea, since the permission to move to the river port outside the navigation could only be obtained after unloading the fuel oil. "When the storm began, the captain of the vessel asked to give shelter, but all the safe places were occupied," Kama Shiping explained in court. As a result, it is reported that tanker operating companies have been fined 30 thousand rubles, ie about $ 215.
