The Armed Forces went only to defensive operations in the war with Russia - The New York Times

According to journalists, the forces of defense seek to cause the Russian troops to maximize harm, while avoiding protracted fights, which can lead to great losses from the Ukrainian side. The Ukrainian military successfully hold their position on the front lines, moving from active offensive operations to the defense strategy. About it reports the newspaper The New York Times.

The main focus of hostilities is the city of Avdiivka, where Russian troops continue persistent attacks, despite the difficulties that arise. For weeks there is a fierce battle for control of the industrial area on the outskirts of the city, where Russian troops direct their forces. During the fighting, Russian troops use underground tunnels under city streets and send drones equipped with explosives against Ukrainian positions.

Attacks from the Russian Armed Forces in Avdiivka and other areas of the front are aimed at achieving preference, especially in the conditions of termination of US military support for Ukraine. Ukrainian servicemen who are on the front line claim that they are currently carrying out defensive operations, but that does not mean that they are simply covered.

Ukrainian soldiers seek to cause maximum harm to the Russian troops, while avoiding long -term battles that could cause significant losses from the Ukrainian side. To date, Russian troops have achieved only limited success, despite significant resources invested in the winter offensive campaign. Due to the fact that in some sections of the front, Russian military can produce five more shells, Ukrainian military is increasingly turning to the use of FPV-punks to compensate for this difference.

However, such a replacement is not fully equivalent. Sergiy Betz, the chief of staff of the 48th separate rifle battalion of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade, stressed that unmanned aerial vehicles are an effective tool, but cannot be compared to the power of large-caliber guns. According to the publication, the Russians are still dominated by the sky. After a short pause, which followed the destruction of several Russian fighters, bombardment recovered.
