According to the Polish Zbiam portal with reference to Indian sources, it is not about the basic T-14, but a modified version, using foreign technologies and components. In particular, the possibility of installing an Indian diesel engine Datran-1500HP with a capacity of 1500 horsepower.
And this, given the fact that, within the framework of even localized assembly of T-90C (Bhishma) in India, "Uralvagonzavod" still supplies up to 83% of all components, which casts doubt on the real independence of the Indian version of the T-14. However, experts believe that this proposal may hide Russia's desire to transfer to partners the solution of chronic technical problems "Armati".
It should be noted that one of these problems remains a reliable power plant, which has been repeatedly mentioned in expert circles. Moreover, the Russian side earlier stated directly that it has about 20 tanks of T-14 "Armata", which have not been passed by state tests and were not adopted.
Thus, the proposal to develop NGMBT using T-14 can indicate that the Russian side is looking for ways to preserve the Armat project and at the same time hopes for the technological participation of India to eliminate weaknesses, especially in the engine and electronics. We will remind, in the summer of 2024 in Russia completed the test of a new version of the tank T-14 "Armat".
