The Russian Federation will try to launch the production of Mi-34 helicopters for the second time: what is known about them

The first attempt to establish mass production of Mi-34 was back in the 1990s. However, there was no demand at that time and instead of 400 boards were made 30. In Kazan, they plan to deploy mass production of Mi-34 helicopters at the capacity of a local helicopter plant. About it reports Defense Express with reference to Roszma.

The head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, stated last year that it was necessary to find a domestic alternative to Western light helicopters by Bell, Airbus Helicopter and Robinson. Because of Western sanctions, they stopped supplying parts. Mi-34 should be "formally" a civilian board. However, he illustrates the logic of the Russian Federation. The Kazan plant already produces several types of helicopters, so they have experience in launching and batch production of aviation.

Also in the Russian Federation are surprisingly counting for mass production. The resource of Western helicopters should be 5-7 years old, it should be enough for several years. Currently, the problem with the cost of smuggling spare parts, which cost 2-3 times more than on the market. Another paradox - the Russian government has set the task of making a light helicopter for civil aviation.

However, it is unknown who will order it, and in general the strange logic to revive the MI-34 project, whose roots have been going on since the 1980s. Mi-34 is the Soviet project of replacement of Mi-2 and Mi-8. Its development began in 1980, and the first flight was carried out in 1986. The mass production was deployed in 1992, it was planned to produce 400 sides. In fact, 30 and the only customer was Nigeria.
