In record terms: Spain completed the repair of ten LEOPARD 2A4 tanks for the Armed Forces

This is the first party of 19 tanks that are preparing for a business trip to Ukraine. The other nine cars will be ready by September this year. The Spanish company Santa Bárbara Sistemas has completed the repair of ten LOOPARD 2A4 tanks, which Spain will supply Ukraine as part of assistance aimed at counteracting the Russian invasion. Nine more tanks to complete the second party of 19 tanks of Leopard 2A4, promised to Ukraine will be ready for September.

This was reported on July 8 at Army Recognition. The company has prepared tanks at its businesses in Alcala de Guadira, Seville. Last year, Santa Bárbara Sistemas repaired the first party of ten units that were sent to Ukraine in two stages - in April and September. A new group of ten tanks is part of 19 tanks promised by the Spanish government in March this year. The repair work was performed in record three months, and at the end of June, the Leopard tanks were already ready for transmission.

It is expected that the transfer of Ukraine will take place in the near future. Like the first party, these tanks have passed a number of field tests to check the serviceability of their equipment and systems. The Leopard 2A4 tanks for Ukrainian Land Forces came from army barracks in Zaragos, where they have been kept in a non -working condition since 2012. Unlike the first batch, these machines were in the worst condition, which required more careful maintenance.

The other nine tanks from the second party are already at the factory in Alcala de Guadira and will be ready for September. German Leopard 2A4 is a major combat tank known for its firing power, improved protection and overall productivity. It is armed with a 120-mm smooth-bore gun L55, a coaxial 7. 62 mm machine gun and an anti-aircraft 7. 62 mm machine gun installed on the charging hatch. In terms of protection, the tank has a standard multilayered armor, reinforced in the front of the tower.

The inner part of the tower is equipped with antiapical tabs, which increases the safety of a crew of four people. At a weight of 62 tons the machine develops a maximum speed of 72 km/h and has a margin of 500 km. Leopard 2A4 is equipped with advanced technologies, including night vision infrared and nuclear, biological and chemical weapons protection system (NBC), which increases its combat capabilities.
