Scandal around the movie "Deaf Lovers": Estonia will not cancel the screening of the Russian director's tape

The tape tells about the novel between the Ukrainian displaced and Russian. The director of the Tallinn film festival said that no one has seen the film by Boris Guts, but a "huge slander campaign" has already unfolded around him. The organizers of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (Pöff) refused to remove the film by Russian director Boris Guts "Deaf Lovers", despite the calls of the Ukrainian State Catherine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. About it writes the Tallinn edition of ERR.

The director of the festival, Tina Locke, said that the film "Artistic and meaningfully very sharp and gives the opportunity to talk about topical topics". He will still be shown in Tallinn. She also noted that no one has seen the tape yet, but a "huge slander campaign" has already unfolded around it.

"This movie is a very fierce attack by Russian oppositionists, Belarusians and Ukrainians, in which it is, of course, very different, and this movie can also be interpreted in a very different way, in this it is its charm," Locke said. The movie "Deaf Lovers" was shot by Russian director Boris Gutz. The tape tells about the novel between the Ukrainian migrant and the Russian who met in Istanbul. Both heroes are deaf, but their relationships develop against the background of war in Ukraine.

The film caused a sharp criticism through the use of Russian actors and an image of relations between representatives of the countries in the war. In addressing the public, the organizers emphasized that "deaf lover" is not a "Russian film", because its director Gutz left Russia after the start of a full -scale war. Boris Gutz, who previously worked on Russian television, now lives in Europe. In his work, he calls the movie erotic drama.
