"It would end up": US overestimate the threat of a direct war with the Russian Federation - a diplomat (video)

Former American Ambassador to Russia, Michael McFol believes that Vladimir Putin does not want a conventional war with NATO and the United States because he "barely survives" by fighting Ukraine. In the United States of America, they overestimate the threat of direct military clash with the Russian Federation. The former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFol said this in an interview with Voice of America on August 10.

The diplomat commented on the US ban on the use of US weapons in Russia, as well as the fact that Washington supports the continuation of the "grain agreement", but does not consider the version of the organization. According to McFol, this is due to the concern of Presidential Administration Joe Biden about a possible escalation of war, which can lead to direct involvement in the United States. "Now my personal opinion. I think they overestimate such a threat.

I think the likelihood of such developments is very low," the former American ambassador said. Michael McFol believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want a conventional war with NATO and the United States. "He barely survives, fighting Ukraine. Imagine if the United States and NATO would have joined this war. I think it would have ended quickly," McFol said.

According to the diplomat, Russia was very careful to avoid strokes in the NATO territory, despite the fact that the Alliance was supplying weapons to Ukraine. The exhibit also believes that the threat of nuclear confrontation between the United States and Russia is almost zero due to mutual damage to which it could cause.

"I understand the concern of the United States on this, but if you want to end the war as soon as possible, the strategy should include the transfer of more powerful weapons to Ukraine, as well as the introduction of bigger and better sanctions against Russia," the diplomat summed up. Recall that on August 9, Swedish diplomat and economist Anders Oslund said that the US Presidential Advisor Jake Sullivan brakes the supply of weapons to Ukraine, in particular the long -range ATACMS missiles.
