Is Kursk-2 possible: the Armed Forces responded to Trump's idea of a new offensive

Share: The Armed Forces of Ukraine will independently decide whether to launch a new offensive, while not looking back at the opinion of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, on this issue, the Ukrainian military officer explained. It is quite possible that there are resources for a breakthrough of 10-15 km, and for more, you need to pay attention to other issues.

Trump spoke about making some important decision in the context of the new offensive of the Armed Forces, but it may be about "standard points", said military officer and co-founder of the Air Intelligence Support Center Ihor Lutsenko in an interview with UNIAN. However, the US can help with real things, not words.

In addition to Tomahawk missiles, the Armed Forces need anti-aircraft means that countered aircraft with anti-aircraft missiles on the front line, and a large number of HIMARS missiles that "break through the positions of the Russians in a certain area. " Lutsenko explained that both the Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation at this stage of the war may well have reserves that will be thrown into battle if necessary.

From this point of view, the Ukrainian army could arrange something similar to a breakthrough in the Kursk region and go deep into the Russian fortifications for 10-15 km. In his opinion, the commander of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi can be expected to invent an "interesting operation". "Could there be potential resources in Ukraine to simulate some unexpected Kursk-2, relatively speaking, for 10-15 kilometers, I think so, that it could happen," he said.

At the same time, to carry out a serious offensive, you need to spend a lot of time on planning, create a strong assault group. There is a possibility that such work "has been done somewhere," said the military man. At the same time, it is noted that it would be good to improve mobilization and recruit 100-150 thousand soldiers. In this case, they will be able to replace people on the front line and create a "shock fist".

"Hypothetically, the Ukrainian state is currently able, with the help of the General Staff or with the help of some other mechanisms, to accumulate the necessary resources for such an offensive, because it has already succeeded once," Lutsenko concluded. It should be noted that in October, US President Donald Trump announced the possibility of a new offensive by the Armed Forces.

According to the head of the White House, for this to happen, Ukraine would like to receive more various weapons, in particular, Tomahawk missiles, of which there are many in the Pentagon's warehouses. During the almost four years of the war, approximately three offensives of the Armed Forces took place. The first offensive of the Armed Forces took place in the fall of 2022. Defense forces managed to liberate the right bank of Kherson region and part of Kharkiv region.

The second offensive is at the beginning of summer 2023. In June, the Russians blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP, and Ukrainian units tried to advance from Zaporizhzhia towards Tokmak, Melitopol and Mariupol. The third offensive took place in the summer of 2024: brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces broke through the border in the Kursk region, took control of Suzha and almost reached the Kursk and Kurchatov nuclear power plants.
