It is reported that Gurov also fought in Syria. "For many years, he headed one of the military units of the Maikop garrison, was a participant in military operation in Syria, defending the interests of our country during his own," he wrote. On August 14, the L-39 Albatros training aircraft crashed in the Krasnodar Territory during the event. The event was killed by one of the crew members. Later it became known that it was a commander of the training aviation base of the city of Maikop Vadim Gurov.

According to the journalists of the Russian Federation, in addition to Gurov there was a senior flight instructor of the main flight test center of the city of Akhtubinsk Mikhail Liptykin.
