Putin pulls troops on the border with Finland: What is known

According to analysts, Moscow builds residential premises for troops, infrastructure for plane placement and restores old facilities on key military bases, which is a sign of its desire to strengthen itself in the border region. Something similar happened before invasion of Ukraine. In Kamianets, which is located about 55 km from the Finnish border, it has not been built before, since February, more than 130 military tents have been installed, capable of housing about 2,000 servicemen.

There is also an activity at the military airfield Severommorsk-2, which until recently was considered closed. And in Petrozavodsk, about 160 km from the border with Finland, three large warehouses were built, which, according to experts, are armored vehicles. At the same time, a rapid activity is observed at the deer air base in the Far North. It is from here that Russian strategic bombers attack the peaceful cities of Ukraine.

Kremlin officials responded to the recent entry of Finland and Sweden to NATO indefinite threat "military and technical measures in response", which now, apparently, are already being implemented. "When we applied for NATO membership, Russia has stated that it would take such steps. Now we see how it happens," said Sweden's defense headquarters Michael classon.

In November 2021, US officials expressed anxiety about satellite images, which showed how Russian troops were gathering on the border with Ukraine - a statement that the Kremlin rejected as unjustified. In less than four months, Putin began a full -scale war against Ukraine. Moscow has accused NATO of acting as an aggressor, not a defensive alliance, and repeatedly swore to protect itself by any means using GPS muffling and other methods.

However, Vladimir Putin has repeatedly rejected fears about a possible attack on NATO members, calling them "full of nonsense," claiming that Russia is not interested in conflict with the Alliance.

Last month, the deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Finland, Lieutenant General Vesa Virtanen expressed concern for Russia's actions on the border, saying that the Kremlin "deliberately checks the unity of NATO" to check whether it would use the article 5-the provisions on the Collective Defense of the Alliance.
