The Pentagon threatens: how Trump is going to force Putin to stop the war in Ukraine

Share: On the eve of the meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyi, US President Donald Trump said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are planning to go on the offensive and called on Putin to stop killing Ukrainians and Russians. Focus found out what the rhetoric of the head of the White House indicates, and whether it will eventually be transformed into concrete steps.

During a joint press conference with FBI director Kesh Patel on Wednesday, October 15, US President Donald Trump called on Kremlin leader Putin to stop killing Ukrainians and Russians and said that Kiev wants to go on the offensive. In particular, noting that he will talk to the President of Ukraine about the war in the near future, the owner of the Oval Office summarized: "We will talk. . . They want to go on the offensive. Russia lost 1.

5 million people during the full-scale invasion, mostly soldiers, and all we want from President Putin is to stop killing Ukrainians and Russians, because he is killing a lot of Russians!” Despite Trump's apparent irritation with the Kremlin, the White House believes that the American leader is "optimistic" about the possibility of achieving peace in Ukraine after the successful signing of an agreement to end the war between Israel and Hamas.

Politico's sources in the Trump administration testify to this. An unnamed White House official told the publication that Russia should be motivated to come to the negotiating table because of its military and economic situation: "If they (the Russians - Focus) were smart, they would push harder to conclude an agreement to end the war that has caused significant damage to Russia's reputation, stop the killings and get their country back on track.

President Putin has repeatedly rejected generous peace proposals that would have benefited Russia. However, despite this, President Trump remains optimistic and believes that he can get both sides to stop the senseless killings. " Meanwhile, the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, said that the United States will start taking measures against Russia if it does not stop the war against Ukraine in the near future.

"If there is no path to peace in the short term, then the United States, along with our allies, will take the necessary steps to ensure that Russia receives consequences for its continued aggression. If we need to take that step, the US Department of War is ready to play its role in a way that only the US can do," Hegset was quoted as saying by The Hill.

Separately, it is said that the head of the Pentagon especially emphasized that "under the steadfast leadership of President Trump, and in particular together with our European allies, we will put an end to the war in Ukraine, achieving peace through strength.

" The current rhetoric of US President Donald Trump and other high-ranking American officials regarding Russia, believes political scientist, managing partner of the "National Anti-Crisis Group" Taras Zagorodny, is a direct consequence of the progress of the Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian missile program. "The more we make our own weapons, the more they will be given to us, including the Americans, so that we don't make our own.

Currently, the Americans see the intensity of attacks on the territory of Russia and are aware of the progress of the Ukrainian missile program, understanding the risks of its deployment, including on the countries of the European Union (EU), when American weapons turn out to be unnecessary. Actually, that's why everyone quickly starts giving us weapons. This is a purely pragmatic approach, which the Americans have always followed.

This is how the world is built: if you yourself demonstrate strength, you are helped in every way, and if you do not demonstrate it, everyone wanted to spit on you, along the way talking about concerns and some values," the expert said in a conversation with Focus. Meanwhile, the political scientist believes that despite the pressure from the West, in particular the USA, Moscow will not change its position regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war.

"The logic of the Russian government is that the tsar cannot be weak and if you have already announced your position, you cannot change it to another, softer one.  And if you change, you are a weakling, and if you are a weakling, you lose power and life, and in history textbooks they will write that you are not Peter I (or whoever Putin wants to be), but an ordinary "loshara".

Putin, as you know, said that Ukraine should leave 4 regions, reduce the army, give up heavy weapons, officially renounce the course towards NATO, and so on. This is his clear public position, from which he will not back down. And no Tomahawks will make him do it.

Unless these "Tomahawks" kill him, then it will really change, but I don't believe in it," concludes Taras Zagorodny, while emphasizing that Putin, despite Trump's systematic appeals, will not sit down at the negotiating table, as he considers Ukraine to be only an object for distribution.

Commenting on the recent statements of the top US leadership to Focus, leading expert of the National Institute for Strategic Studies Ivan Us states: "You know, I get the impression that after the recent summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Trump really got fired up with the idea of taking steps that generally correspond to the formula of peace through strength. However, this does not mean that he is 100% on the side of Ukraine - it just seems to him that such behavior gives maximum popularity.

That is, this is such a game. In addition, Trump had a concept in his head, the essence of which was that Russia would be anti-China and take away the development of nuclear weapons from Iran. After all, Trump built relations with the Russian Federation precisely through the prism of these two ideas.

And when it became clear that Tehran will not give weapons to Moscow, and Russia will not act against the PRC, this caused Trump disappointment, and it is partly because of him that he now seeks to demonstratively put pressure on Putin.

" In addition, according to the analyst, by taking a sufficiently tough anti-Russian public line, Trump is checking how beneficial it is for him in the electoral dimension: "The current US president really likes when he is in the center of attention and his persona is popular with a plus sign. Therefore, in this way, he probes whether tough rhetoric against Russia adds to his public popularity. So far, Trump is on this wave and it is he, by the way, who likes to talk about "Tomahawks" for Ukraine.

He beats this topic literally at all meetings. A recent example is conversations about these missiles with the Prime Minister of Argentina, Javier Millay. Trump doesn't say whether the US will give Ukraine Tomahawks or not, but he just really likes how the world is reacting to it and wonders how Russia will react.

This does not mean that tomorrow, when there is a meeting between Trump and Zelensky, Ukraine will receive Tomahawks, but the extreme statements of the US president, as well as Pete Hegseth, are all a field test to see how much American voters will like it. If the current tactics regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war "fit" ordinary Americans, then, Ivan Us is convinced, President Trump will continue to adhere to this line.

For Russia, the expert emphasizes, this state of affairs is extremely unpleasant, since the Kremlin builds its ideology of war on the fact that Ukraine will soon run out of people, money, and weapons, and the Russian Federation will definitely win. "Instead, there is information about a reparation loan for Ukraine and Tomahawk, which means that Kyiv will have money and weapons, which for Russia is the destruction of its own approach.
