US forces Iran to stop selling drones of Russia: what they agreed - ft

The White House found pressure levers at secret meetings with the Iranians, seeking to weaken the conflict in the Middle East. The US is urging Iran to stop selling Russian military drones, promising instead to reduce the pressure. This was reported by the American newspaper Financial Times, citing its informed sources. Representatives of the White House raised the issue of drones in the Russian Federation during secret negotiations with Iranian politicians held in Qatar and Oman 2023.

According to the Iranian high -ranking official and another person who is informed of negotiations, the United States wants Iran to stop the supply of drones that Russia uses for blows in Ukraine, as well as spare parts for them. As the source added, the Iranian authorities officially recognizes the use of their UAV in the Russian-Ukrainian war, but repeatedly asked Moscow not to use them in hostilities.

Washington has always demanded more specific steps from Iran, and now probably uses new pressure levers. The US and Iran have reached most issues, but negotiations through intermediaries will continue in Qatar and Oman, especially in Russia's military assistance. The issues of drones were raised in parallel with the discussion of prisoners-as a result, Tehran transferred four Iran-American citizens from household prison.

Successful exchange and any other agreements, even unofficial, will be the first breakthrough by the US President against Iran after more than two years of indirect negotiations, during which Joe Biden sought to revive the 2015 nuclear agreement and reduce tensions in the Middle East. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that the United States is being used diplomatic measures to pressure Iran to prevent the country from receiving nuclear weapons and stopped supplying Russian drones.

"It is clear to us that Iran should reduce escalation to create space for future diplomacy. The transfer of our detainees from prison to house arrest is not related to any other aspect of our policy on Iran," he said. According to FT, officials hope that indirect negotiations will help the parties to settle the conflict.

Iran should agree not to enrich Uranus with cleanliness above 60% (necessary for the creation of nuclear weapons), to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and not attack Americans. Instead, the United States will not impose new sanctions if they do not relate to human rights and can close their eyes to violations of already existing restrictions on the sale of oil.

Iran's representatives are also asking Washington to convince allies from Europe to weaken the pressure on the country's economy. As Iran's official explained, Tehran is afraid that the United Kingdom, Germany and France, the participants of the 2015 Agreement, can again impose sanctions when the nuclear agreement that restricts the Iran's program from ballistic missiles is spilled in October. Earlier there was information that Russia localized the production of Iranian drones of Shahd.
