According to analysts, Russian troops previously created stationary artillery firing positions for long periods of time from the end of 2022 to the beginning of 2023. Then the Ukrainian forces had limited possibilities of counter -battery struggle. The report states that the occupiers began to concentrate their artillery in the same way in January 2024. It is expected that they returned to the old tactics because artillery ammunition will end again in the Ukrainian forces.
It is reported that defense forces can sometimes affect Russian artillery, but in general they lack ammunition for effective counter -battery fire. This allows Russian artillery to largely destroy the settlements where the infantry comes. Moreover, as the report says, many Ukrainian FPV-Drome lacks the range of action to impress the numerous guns of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The invaders deploy them at a distance of 15 to 24 km from the front line.
ISW stated that the lack of artillery ammunition and delays in helping the event can create uncertainty in the Armed Forces operational plans. Earlier, DeepState reported that the Armed Forces lacked shells, and the invaders are trying to gain a foothold in the Avdiivka areas. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation try to arrange positions in the houses of Avdiivka step by step, sometimes moving several people.
