"Gift from Mazepa": The 300-year-old Gospel was rescued from the Russians for restoration (video)

The Izium Museum of the Izium Museum is currently unusable for a valuable monument, so it was decided to carry out urgent restoration work to stop the destruction of the book. The three -hundred -year -old Gospel of 1707 - the main exhibit of the Izium Museum of Local History. The book was saved from Russian invaders, it did not get into the hands of the invaders. The monument of the Ukrainian Baroque was given for restoration. The restorers try to save each page and protect the Ukrainian heritage.

The director of the museum Galina Ivanov Channel Freeoda told this. The Gospel, which has been 316 years old, was given the city of Izium from Hetman Ivan Mazepa. This is a folio book, a salary made with silver and gilding. It survived more than one war. During the Second World Edition, they were hidden from the Nazis, and in 2022, when Izium included the armed forces of the Russian Federation, a valuable exhibit also had to be rescued.

"Yes, he was rescued, he was hidden even before the shelling, and then they could not be stored. It was not possible, because there were checkpoints everywhere and just searched everyone," - said Irina Yermolenko, a scientific employee of the museum. Currently, the Izium Museum of the Izium Museum is unfit for storage of a valuable monument, so it was decided to carry out urgent restoration work to stop the destruction of the book. The folio has great damage - stains, mold, stains, land.

It takes a long time to preserve the book. Natalia Chorna, a 35-year-old restoration, has 300 pages, each has to work from a few days to a week, depending on the paper condition. In general, according to restorers, at least one and a half years will have to work on the restoration of the monument. But it must be stored and returned to the museum. More than 800 cultural heritage monuments have been affected by Russian aggression in Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, the most cultural objects were destroyed or destroyed by Russian invaders in Kharkiv region. We will remind, on October 27 it was reported that the UN and UNESCO create a platform destroyed in Ukraine cultural objects. According to UNESCO representative, Krista Pittak, cultural heritage often suffers inadvertently during wars.
