Xi Jinping personally warned Putin against the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine - FT

According to the newspaper, the words of the Chinese leader may be enough, so that the President of the Russian Federation does not use ulcers. However, many doubt Beijing's sincerity. The head of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, personally warned Russian President Vladimir Putin about the impossibility of using nuclear weapons against Ukraine. About it writes the British newspaper Financial Times on June 5.

The publication refers to anonymous sources that have reported that this personal warning was made during the State visit of President of China to Moscow in March. It was one of the first trips of SI outside China after a long isolation in connection with the policy of combating Covid-19. After that, Chinese officials began to attribute merits of Putin's conviction of refusing to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine.

One of the Chinese government advisers told British journalists that Putin's restraint from nuclear weapons is a key element of China's strategy to restore relations with Europe. The full -scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine in March 2022 led to the confrontation of Moscow and its ally Beijing with the European Union. According to FT, China consistently opposes the use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine.

However, many supporters of Ukraine doubt Beijing's sincerity in such a restraint in view of the "boundless partnership" Si with Putin and similar positions of China and Russia in "peaceful plan". SI warning, however, hopes that China reinforces its public rhetoric with closed warnings about potential consequences for bilateral relations, the publication notes. According to journalists, this may be enough to keep Putin from using nuclear weapons.

"The Chinese take responsibility for sending messages at all levels," the US administration said. Recall that on June 21, President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, called the China's head Xi Jinping with a dictator. Later, the US president stated that his statement about the Chinese leader Si Jinping as a "dictator" in no way had a negative impact on efforts to reduce tension in relations between the two largest economies in the world.
