Shmigal called the condition in which Ukraine will continue the transit of Russian gas (video)

Kiev may continue the fuel transit after the current contract is completed if the European Union is agreed. Meanwhile, Brussels stated that they were not going to negotiate with Moscow on gas. Ukraine is ready to continue the transit of Russian gas through its gas transportation system (GTS) on the initiative by the European Union. At the same time, it is not going to continue the current contract or sign a new one with the Russian Gas Stock.

This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal at the annual press conference on Monday, March 4. "We, of course, do not plan to negotiate with the aggressor country to continue (transit contract-ed. ) And sign up under the agreement, but we had repeated negotiations with European leaders on the basis of the European Commission. or one of the European partners will be a transiter of their gas - we are ready to provide such a service.

There is an initiative on the EU side and our European partners, "the head of government said. "Group, association, consortium . . . It can be the European Commission, a group of European countries that are interested in maintaining transit," the Smigal said. At the same time, according to the prime minister, the GTS of Ukraine is ready to function without the transit of Russian natural gas. According to him, gas production continues to grow in Ukraine.

This is one of the most important tasks for the country's energy independence. "We understand how to provide all consumers in Ukraine with gas now and in the following years. In particular, we continue to increase the production of blue fuel in Ukraine. Last year, Naftogaz launched 86 new wells," Shmigal wrote in his Telegram.

The European Energy Commissioner Simson stated that the EC would not continue negotiations with Russia, as it did so five years ago when they agreed the Tripartite Gas Transit Agreement. "The European Commission excludes any conversations from the Russian Federation regarding the further transit of their gas to Europe through Ukraine. On the contrary, we have to get rid of Russian gas as soon as possible," she said.

We will remind, on December 31 of the year the contract between Ukraine and Russia for the transportation of Russian gas to Europe ends. Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svetlana Grinchuk stated that at a recent meeting of energy ministers held in Paris, many countries have informed Kiev that they have significantly reduced dependence on Russian gas in the last two years.
