The US Army in the EU studies on the example of Ukraine: what Ukrainian officers recommend partners to partners

It is about implementing a strategy according to which the US Army is saturated with unmanned systems, introduces methods of interaction of UAV and artillery, and changes the approach to the protection of command points. The US Army units stationed in Europe are actively using the experience of hostilities in Ukraine to improve its combat capability.

Against the backdrop of the ongoing fighting, the US army begins to the second stage of the re -equipment of its troops, Defense One reports with reference to the military leadership. General Derril Williams, the commander of the US Land Forces in Europe and Africa, noted that individual units are actively studying current operations in Ukraine, collecting valuable data that help adapt the tactics and strategy of the US Army.

An important aspect of the program is the so-called Transformation-in-Contact strategy, which involves the rapid equipment of the units with new technologies. In particular, it is about the methods of interaction of drones with artillery and mortars that take place in the Ukrainian army. As part of this strategy, which has been going on for 8 months, the army fills some units with new drones, equipment to combat them and communication.

Also, lessons learned from the Ukrainian conflict become key to adaptation of US military tactics, in particular at the level of team points and troops management systems. According to the commander-in-chief, the lessons of the Russian-Ukrainian war indicate the need to create a protected infrastructure for storing ammunition and equipment, as well as the placement of team points that will be more inaccessible to rocket and bombing strikes.

American Major-General Ron Ragin recently asked several senior Ukrainian officers, which they would do differently before the war. According to him, Ukrainians were recommended to invest in the production and storage of ammunition, as well as in the creation of several places for maintenance of equipment. They also recommended to create more secure storage and management infrastructure.
