"The Russian military probably executed at least 15 Ukrainian servicemen while trying to get captured, and perhaps six more who seemed or have already been captured," the statement said. Human Rights Watch analysts have watched several videos that show how Ukrainian fighters kill. They came to the conclusion that Ukrainian servicemen demonstrated an obvious intention to be captured.

"Because they no longer participated in hostilities, that is, they were considered persons who had dismissed, in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law and the laws of war, they could not be the object of attack," HRW emphasized. In another video, analysts saw the Russians near the village of Ivanivske shoot seven Ukrainians who have already been captured. They left the armor, removed the bulletproof vests, and one of the fighters removed even a helmet.
