US Secretary of State Rubio could not answer whether Putin is a military criminal (video)

To spread: at the Hearing in the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives Bill Kiting, Congressman-Democrat from Massachusetts, asked the state secretary Marco Rubio on the war in Ukraine. Rubio acknowledged that the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine, but could not call Putin a military criminal. Video of the episode from the hearing appeared on the Forbes channel.

Before asking Marco Rubio, Bill Kiting recalled that the hearing is happening to clarify what the US and allies' relationships are, after more than an 80-year partnership. "Because they express their doubts. They express doubts in public. They have expressed them privately. Because the person of our country, as the main representative of foreign policy in the United States, I just seek this clarity," Kiting said. And he began the question of whether Russia was an aggressor in the war in Ukraine.

"Yes, Russia has invaded Ukraine," Marco Rubio replied, and answered Kiting's questions in affirmative whether Russia is an aggressor country. Congressman Bill Kiting noted that it was important to clarify this moment, because, as he recalled, President Donald Trump said that Ukraine had started this war. Further, Congressman Bill Kitting went on to questions about Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Congressman Bill Kitting: Secondly, the person we negotiate with, Vladimir Putin, is he a war criminal (War Criminal)? Marco Rubio: Well, I think, you can look at what happened there and, of course, characterize it as war crimes, but our intention is to put an end to the war. Congressman Bill Kiting: He is a war crime? Marco Rubio: We can't put an end to the war without talking to Putin . . .

Congressman Bill Kiting: This is a pretty simple question: he is a war criminal? Marko Rubio: This is the person with whom we negotiate, Vladimir Putin. Congressman Bill Kiting: He is a war crime? It's easy. Marco Rubio: But I try to answer your question by telling you that we are trying to put an end to the war. Congressman Bill Kitting: A simple answer. You dodge sir instead of just answering the questions. Marco Rubio: I answer your question. And the answer is that there was a military crime.

No doubt. Congressman Bill Kitting: And who is responsible for it? Marco Rubio: There will be time and place for this responsibility. But now the task is to put an end to the war. Further, Congressman Bill Kiting reminded Marko Rubio that he had recently been sitting in his place as a senator and asked the candidate for the post of State Secretary of Rex Tillerson in exactly the same circumstances. This happened in 2017.

And then Marco Rubio asked Tillerson about how Putin managed attacks on schools, markets, hospitals and playgrounds in Ukraine. He also raised the question of 20,000 stolen Ukrainian children, which is a war crime. "You said very clearly that Vladimir Putin was a military criminal. Now you are depriving him of the status of a military criminal and do not answer questions about the same circumstances, putting your words in my mouth . . . Then you told Tillerson that they were very confused perpetrator.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that "war crimes were committed. " Keting finished hearing, saying that Marko Rubio is inconsistent and one -piece of negotiations with Russia and Ukraine is concerned about US allies. We will remind, earlier Focus wrote about what the negotiations of Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul ended. After that, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump spoke with the phone and told about their impressions.
