Toyota is suspected of trying to return to the Russian market: the automaker reacted

Share: Russian mass media reported on Toyota's intentions to return to the Russian car market. The Japanese auto giant denies this. The website Autonews wrote about Toyota's alleged plans to return to Russia. He reported that after the talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, a secret closed meeting of Toyota representatives with Russian car dealers was allegedly held in Alaska. This was confirmed by Oleg Moseev, the former head of the organization "Russian Automobile Dealers".

According to him, Toyota is interested in resuming car sales in the Russian Federation. The Japanese automaker has reportedly held several conferences with Russian dealers and is lobbying for the unofficial import of Toyota cars from China. Toyota admitted that such conferences are indeed held regularly, but their subject is completely different - we are talking about the after-sales service of Toyota and Lexus. But returning to the Russian Federation is not considered in the near future.

"At the moment, the company has no plans to import new cars to Russia," Toyota representatives said. We will remind that Toyota left the Russian market in 2022 after the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The Japanese auto giant supported the sanctions, stopped selling cars in the Russian Federation, and also closed its plant in St. Petersburg. Earlier, Focus talked about the new Toyota luxury coupe, which will challenge Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
