The British Security and Defense Analyst Michael Clark considers the emergence of Ukrainian forces in the Russian territory "by definition of a temporary military maneuver", which is intended to put pressure on the Russian strategy and to give some military advantage. This maneuver, Clark explained, will end when the future battle near Kursk reaches the point when Ukrainian troops decide that they can still leave the site without being too exhausted by Russian troops.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, for its part, will try to cut off the path to retreat back to Ukraine. This development can be expected in a few weeks.
