Similar to Russian frigads: the DPRK builds a giant ship with a waterboard of 3000 tons (photo)

According to the Western Osers, a new ship can be the first North Korean frigate with vertical launch systems - this will allow it to equip it with modern anti -ship and ballistic missiles. On December 30, it became known that North Korea began the construction of a new class of a new class of 3000 tons. This significantly exceeds the size of the AMLOK (1500 tons) frigates and perhaps indicates a new stage in the development of the country's naval capabilities.

This was reported by Army Recognition Operators. In the photos published by the State Media of the DPRK, the leader of the country Kim Jong -in inspects the frigate under construction. Although the exact date and place of shooting is not indicated, the scale of the ship far exceeds previously known projects. Experts suggest that a new ship can be the first North Korean frigate with vertical launch systems (VLS), which will allow it to be equipped with modern anti -ship and ballistic missiles.

Also noted the similarity of the design of a ship with Russian frigates of the class "Admiral Grigorovich", whose displacement is about 3600 tons.

Probable technological cooperation between Russia and the DPRK may testify to the strengthening of military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang in recent years, especially against the backdrop of isolation of both countries by international sanctions, which opens up opportunities for technology exchange and strengthening of military-technical partnership. According to analysts, the construction of a frigate can be carried out on a shipwreck in the province of Southern Phenan.

This facility had previously visited Kim Jong-in, emphasizing the importance of naval power in a five-year plan for the modernization of the DPRK's armed forces. So in September last year, during the water descent ceremony, the Hero Kon Kun Ok, the North Korean leader, stated the need for accelerated development of both surface ships and submarines.

The observers also emphasized that if the frigate is equipped with VLS systems, it will be a significant step in increasing the impact potential of the DPRK. Such systems make it possible to launch long -range missiles, which significantly increases the radius of the North Korean fleet and complicates the missile defense of neighboring countries. This development increases tension in the region, especially in the light of recent growth of naval expenditures of South Korea and Japan.

Western analysts are alarming through the possible transfer of technologies between Russia and the DPRK. For Moscow, this collaboration can be a way to strengthen its influence in the Asia-Pacific region, and for Pyongyang-the ability to compensate for technological lag. Earlier it was reported that on the North Korean ship in Nasta, they probably build a submarine, which will be equipped with ballistic missiles.
