Dragone explained that the Kremlin planned to get a puppet government in Kyiv similar to the one in Belarus, but the Russians did not achieve this goal.

Considering the situation at the front, the failure of the Russians in Kyiv and the large number of casualties on the battlefield, he would advise agreeing to negotiations. "It's almost time to sit down and talk, because it's a waste of lives," Dragone was quoted as saying by the media. The admiral added that European NATO member states will continue to support Ukraine until the parties sit down at the negotiating table.

In addition, in his opinion, there is a certain positive in such a situation: Europeans have received a warning about threats and can prepare. Dragone assured that the alliance is not afraid of Russian weapons - neither the Burevestnik missile nor the Poseidon submarine - and will protect the territory of all 32 states: the USA will also join in the defense.

On the other hand, the military officer clarified at which points a new invasion of the Russian Federation is possible: the three Baltic countries are in question. It should be noted that US President Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin shortly before the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Washington. According to the results of the conversation, they apparently agreed to meet in Budapest and agree on stopping the war in Ukraine.

The meeting was canceled within a day, and this happened after another statement by the Kremlin that the war would end only on the condition of Ukraine's complete surrender. Meanwhile, the media wrote that the Pentagon does not object to providing Ukraine with cruise missiles "Tomahawk", which, it turns out, there are enough in the warehouses of the US army. However, Trump later clarified that he still does not plan to transfer these weapons to Ukraine.
