Russian SU-34 was armed with more dangerous bombs: what is known about the UMPC-PD module

The network has images of Su-34 bombers, equipped with advanced versions of the universal planning and correction module (UMPC) for Fab-500M62, which allow to significantly increase the range of ammunition. According to profile resources, the new version of the UMPC, which is referred to in a number of sources as "PD" (increased range), provides a much greater flight range than previous modifications.

Previously, the standard version allowed Fab-500m62 to overcome the distance to 50-70 km, but the exact parameters of the upgraded aviation airbag are not officially disclosed. As the carrier is traditionally redeemed by front bombers Su-34, but in the future it is possible that aviation bombs from the UMPC-PD will also be adapted for other aircraft of the Russian Federation. It is also reported that the development of this modification has been conducted for the last few months.

The main reason for modernization in order to increase the range of airbombs is due to increased advanced Ukrainian air defense systems, which significantly complicate the operation of the enemy front aircraft at small and medium distances. It should be noted that increasing the range of lesions does not yet guarantee the increase in the efficiency of the use of aviation bombs.

One of the key characteristics of modern weapons is the accuracy of ammunition, and this is where the Russians have difficulty. We will remind, since 2025 Russian aviation faces serious problems in the use of managed aviation bombs (CA) with the module of planning and correction. These ammunition, which were previously considered one of the most important instruments of the Air War, suddenly lost their advantage due to reducing the accuracy of hit.
