In general, the meeting discussed the Ukrainian crisis and possible prospects for the development of strategic cooperation between the US and Russia. At the same time, according to Interfax, the Russian side transmitted certain signals about the Ukrainian issue and received appropriate signals from American leader Donald Trump. He also noted that the US President has not yet received a report from Vitcoff on the results of the meeting.

Yuri Ushakov added that it is worth waiting for the moment when the Special Representative for the Middle East will be able to report Trump about the conversation, after which his comments can probably be supplemented. Also, the adviser to Presidential Office Mikhail Podolyak in an interview with RBC-Ukraine stated that Russia does not offer any real decisions to complete the war, and the meeting of US specialist Steve Vitcoff with Putin will not fundamentally change anything.

He stressed that the Kremlin's position remains unchanged - Putin continues to insist on the idea of "returning his", although Russia has existed in recognized borders since 1991 and has no rights in the Ukrainian territories.

According to Mikhail Podolyak, Putin seeks not only occupation but also European claims, tries to win time, save profits from oil and gas exports to Asia and Latin America, as well as weaken the rhetoric of Trump's administration and reduce the United States before the war.

He also added that Moscow is trying to restrict military assistance to Ukraine by prohibiting weapons through intermediaries and European alliances, but Trump understands the Kremlin's tactics and will not make key concessions. According to him, Russia can try to buy US commitment with economic proposals, including access to oil production and Arctic projects, as well as schemes for the sale of gas to the European market through the American intermediaries.

However, the adviser is convinced that these attempts will not be successful, especially given the political style of Trump. At the same time, he noted that Vitcoff is currently focusing on other issues, including the problems of the Gaza Sector.
