Military aid, speeding up the supply of air defense systems and aviation: the President of Ukraine met with the Minister of the Armed Forces of France

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs of France Catherine Vautrin, who visited Ukraine for the first time after being appointed to the position in October last year. During the discussion, the main attention was paid to military aid, the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense systems and missiles, and the expansion of Ukrainian aviation with French Mirage and Rafale aircraft.

The head of state noted that Ukraine highly values the high level of relations with France and the support from French President Emmanuel Macron, the government and the people, which they have been providing since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia. Volodymyr Zelenskyi informed about the consequences of the attack that Russia inflicted on Ukraine this night. The parties discussed what is needed for the protection and stability of our country.

The President noted the importance of the supply of SAMP/T systems and French Mirage aircraft to strengthen Ukrainian air defense, which is of great importance for Ukraine against the background of constant Russian massive attacks. "Mirage is also an aircraft that is part of the air defense system of Ukraine, destroying the "shahedy" that Russia uses on a daily basis. We count on your support in this direction.

We are grateful that we have signed an agreement on the future of modern aviation of Ukraine, that we will be able to receive Rafale, high-quality French-made aircraft. We are counting on a new generation of SAMP/T systems," the Head of State said. The President emphasized that the rapid arrival of air defense systems will strengthen the protection of Ukrainian skies.

Ukraine is also interested in the fastest possible implementation of joint projects with France within the framework of European initiatives, primarily SAFE. Catherine Vautrin assured of further support for Ukraine from France. She noted the effective work with the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, in particular regarding the modernization of radars provided by France and cooperation in the production of drones. "France will adhere to its commitments on the Rafale.

Regarding deliveries, they will be implemented as planned within the framework of the SAFE program. We will be your loyal partner, we will defend your cause and try to involve the European defense-industrial complex in a broad sense in this work in order to strengthen our capabilities and our sovereignty in the European sense," she emphasized. The sanctions policy against Russia was also discussed during the meeting.
