It has been stated that neither the manufacturer of robotic platforms nor the military itself understand what the NRC should be and in what aspect their effectiveness will be revealed. "The development of a new type of weapons occurs at all levels: in battle, front workshops, workshops of defense companies, volunteer staffs and in power offices. The main goal is to replace people with work in the most dangerous sections of the front," the material reads.
According to the Director of the Procurement Department of the Ministry of Defense Gleb Kanevsky, in 2025 they plan to put 15,000 robots on the front, which will significantly increase their presence on the battlefield. These machines solve a wide range of tasks: however, NRCs are facing a number of technical difficulties, such as insufficient patency, communication problems and low accuracy of weapons.
Experts and military from several units, including the Charter and the 108th Battalion "Wolves Da Vinci", have evaluated the current state of development of the NRC on a ten-point scale: despite current problems, Ukraine is actively testing and modifying robots. The country has a network of front workshops where engineers and operators adapt platforms to real combat missions.
According to Brave1 technological cluster, about 50 NRC models are currently being armed, but only 20-30% of them are consistently used. With regard to key areas of modernization, it is about improving communication and management systems, improving platform patency, optimizing the balance of price/efficiency, as well as the development of specialized platforms, such as reliable robots.
For example, at the Defense Tech Innovations Forum 2025, a number of companies have shown digital, Starlink and fiber. And the manufacturer of Termit platforms has a bet on modularity-its design allows you to integrate any connection or combine them at the same time. At the same time, the Ukrainian military noted several of their pets, who have already proven themselves on the positive side. Among them - "Cockroach", "Termit", "Gimli", "Tesla", "Lynx Pro".
It was also reported that in 2024 the Ukrainian government planned to put 10 thousand land robots on the front. However, as practice shows, this plan has not been fully implemented. The main causes are both technology dampness and the unpreparedness of the military for their mass use. According to the Defense Agency, in the second half of 2024, the Ministry of Defense concluded six contracts for the supply of land robots in the amount of UAH 100 million.
