The Russian Federation is working on BMP-3M modernization: what is known about Manul armored vehicles (photo)

This armored vehicle was developed as a response to Russian troops to Western samples, such as Bradley and Marder, which are in service with the defense forces. Experts were attracted by the unmanned TKB-947 unmanned module with a 30-mm automatic gun and the Cornet PTRC.

Against the backdrop of the use of modern Western BMPs in Ukraine, such as the American Bradley M2A2 and German Marder 1A3, the Russian army introduced a new modernized version of the infantry fighting machine-BMP-3M Manul, which was developed by Kurganmashzavod. "Army-2020". This was reported on November 8 by Army Recognition.

The material states that one of the key improvements in Manul was the transfer of the engine to the front, which freed up space for the extended landing compartment, designed for eight servicemen. The new compartment is also equipped with cushioning seats, which reduce the impact of explosive waves, which increases the safety of the crew in the event of a mini undermine.

In response to the threat of Western anti -tank weapons, Manul received a strengthened lateral armor, which is designed for protection against explosions and fragments. "Manul" is equipped with a remote control module TKB-947, which is equipped with a 30mm automatic gun 2A42 and 7. 62 mm machine gun PCTM. These weapons are supported both against personnel and against light -hearted purposes.

But a particular threat to NATO armored vehicles, experts say, is the presence of four anti-tank controlled Cornet-E missiles, which can even affect the main combat tanks. The BMP is equipped with a new UTD-32T engine with a turbocharging, which develops a capacity of 660 hp. - This gives the technique of power ratio to mass 31 hp. per ton. In this case, the maximum speed of the armored vehicle reaches 70 km/h, and the margin of the course - up to 600 km.

Despite 21 tons, Manul retains amphibian abilities, allowing to cross water obstacles at speeds of up to 9. 5 km/h, which is especially important in the conditions of various relief of Ukraine. "Manula design, which uses both modernized Soviet technologies and new innovations, emphasizes Russia's adaptive approach to confrontation with the standard NATO BMPs that are involved in the war," the observers write.
