Explosions and shooting: the Russian Federation has activated shelling from the territory of Zaporizhzhya NPP - IAEA

IAEA experts do not have access to the Turbine Halls, where they noticed the military and equipment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Air alarm signal at the station. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been concerned, which over the last few days of March, air alarm signals and shelling occur at the Zaporozhye NPPs. Due to the activation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the object is again in danger.

The current situation is reported in the IAEA report, published on March 28. The report described several emergencies at the nuclear power plant that excited them and forced them to change their work plans. For example, over the last week, they have heard loud sounds from time to time. In one case, there is a confidence that it was the sounds of artillery. Also unusual situations began on March 22 and 27 - they heard the shooting.

Another incident is an alarm associated with the aircraft dancing: in this regard, experts even had to postpone some tasks. However, despite the difficulties, the IAEA continued to work at the station. In particular, she visited the reactor # 5 (see if the normal water level in the waste fuel pool) and the reactor # 4 (checked whether the diesel generator was established). At the same time on reactor # 5, and later - # 6, they will drain and clean the sprinkler pools.

Experts stressed that Russian invaders do not allow them to all objects of the station. Among other things-there is no access to several turbine halls, a cooler pond, a substation of 330 square meters. From the posts on social networks it became known that in some turbine halls of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation noticed "the presence of troops and equipment". Secretary General Raphael Grosssey noted that the Zaporizhzhia NPP was in particular danger last week.

He also found a threat to a station that has been in the war zone for two years as a result of the invasion of the Russian Federation. "For over two years, nuclear security and safety in Ukraine have been in a constant threat. We have been stabilizing the situation so far, but as we have convinced last week again, nuclear security and protection in Ukraine remain extremely vulnerable," Grossi said. It should be noted that the Zaporizhzhya NPP has been in occupation since March 2022.

In the station the units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and Rosatom workers were introduced. In the spring of 2023 it was possible to agree that the station will be at the IAEA who will monitor safety. One of the objects they should be supervised is a cooling pond that has shallows as a result of the disruption of the Kakhovskaya Hydroe Dams.

In February 2024, the military expert and the Eugene Dyky's efficiency of the Aidar detachment appreciated the consequences of a possible nuclear accident. During a massive Russian air attack on March 22, the PS-330kV line, which feeds the station, was damaged on March 22. The chairman of the Zaporizhzhya Ova Ivan Fedorov stated that ZPE was on the verge of Black. We remind that the Russian Federation continues to fire the energy of Ukraine.
