Unlike classic submarines with a single cylindrical form, Herne has tight nasal and feed sections, while the freight compartments remain freely filled. This modular structure makes it possible to replace the amount of energy and energy sources in less than an hour. The submarine is equipped with two freight compartments of 2. 5 m³ each, which can be combined into a single compartment of 5 m³ for larger cargoes.
Herne can also bear torpedoes, underwater drones, touch matrices or anchor for long -term fixing on the seabed. One of the key advantages of the device is its depth of immersion - up to 3,000 meters, which significantly exceeds the capabilities of most modern submarines. This allows Herne to work effectively even at the deepest points of the ocean. The movement of the submarine is provided by two electric motors, each of which drives a separate screw.
This design makes it possible to extend the mission even in case of failure of one engine. Side and vertical fittings that provide high maneuverability are used for management. Herne feeds on lithium-ion batteries, which allows it to work autonomously for 7-10 days. However, the developers have already tested a version with hydrogen fuel elements that increase the course of the course to 5,000 kilometers and allow the device to be underwater for up to 45 days.
