Baltic countries have agreed to restrict the entry of the Russians with Schengen visas - the Foreign Ministry of Latvia

According to Edgar Rinkevich, Russian citizens will not be able to enter Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia through land borders from the Russian Federation and Belarus. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have reached a fundamental arrangement for a significant restriction of the entry of Russians through land borders from the Russian Federation and Belarus. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgar Rinkevich wrote about it on Twitter.

The arrangement is reached within the framework of the Nordic-Baltic Eight meeting, which takes place in Lithuania. As specified, the new rules will also be concerned with Russian citizens with Schengen visas. "The decisions will be made by national governments in accordance with national procedures and will come into force at the same time," the Foreign Minister emphasized. Officially, the ban should be announced in the near future.

At the same time, Rinkevich noted that there will be some exceptions in the new norms. According to the Russian Agency "RIA Novosti", exceptions to the ban will make a truck, diplomats and those who enter the Baltic States for family and humanitarian reasons. Recall that it will be more difficult for Russians to receive Schengen visas since September 12. The European Commission has approved proposals for limiting the visa regime with the Russian Federation.
