Putin's sanctions: EU and US want to force the Kremlin head to sit at the negotiating table - von der Lyen

To spread: The President of the European Commission Ursula von Der Liaien has stated that the EU is ready to reconcile actions with the United States to simultaneously impose sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to her, the purpose of such a step is to increase the pressure on the Kremlin and encourage it to negotiate peace. Politico writes about it.

"We have discussed how we can impose European sanctions and American sanctions at the same time if Putin does not sit at the negotiation table," she said. In the framework of the preparation of the 18th Package of Sanctions against Russia, the European Union focuses on the energy sector and financial flows that feed the Russian economy. Von der Liaien emphasized that these areas are the greatest concern in the EU, since they are key to Moscow's ability to continue war.

"We are primarily concerned about Russian energy sanctions and the overlap of sources of funding for Russia," the European Commission President emphasized. Within the new round, EU restrictive measures intend to impose sanctions on companies that are related to the infrastructure of the Nord Stream and North Stream-2 gas pipelines associated with Russia.
