On Thursday, February 15, before the start of the meeting, Nicol Pashinyan stated that Azerbaijan continues to comply with the military pressure policy on Armenia. The Armenian Prime Minister noted that it was initially proposed to deliberate the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan throughout its length. But Baku was proposed to divide this delimitation process in stages.
"Azerbaijan seems to avoid this option, and our analysis shows that this may be one reason, and this reason may be, for example, the beginning of hostilities in some areas of the border with the prospect of transformation of military escalation of conflict into a full -scale war against the Republic of Armenia ", - he said. According to Pashinyan, Azerbaijan does not refuse to use the military pressure policy on Armenia.
"We conclude that Azerbaijan has no interest in ensuring stability and security at the border, and there are many reasons for this impression," the Prime Minister emphasized. Pashinyan recalled that in 2022 an agreement was signed between the countries on the inclusion of border security issues in the mandate of the border delimitation commissions. Armenia has formed a commission for delimitation of the state border and border security with Azerbaijan.
This means that the Armenian side expected that according to the agreement, these commissions would also deal with security issues at the border. Pashinyan noted that "Azerbaijan, contrary to the agreement, called the State Border Delimitation Commission created by the State Border between the Azerbaijani Republic and the Republic of Armenia, lowering the security component. " Pashinyan also stated that the Azerbaijani soldiers were already controlling 31 Armenian village.
Exacerbation of the confrontation between Azerbaijan and Armenia took place in the fall of 2023. Azerbaijani officials stated that there was an attack on the military in Nagorny Karabas. Thereafter, a decision was made to start an "anti -terrorist operation" in Karabakh. At the same time, negotiations began with representatives of the local population: they assured that Armenians would integrate peacefully into the life of the rest of the country.
After that, hundreds of thousands of people left Karabach. We would like to remind that on February 12, Armenian Prime Minister Nicolo Pashinyan stated that his country would not perform on the side of the Russian Federation during the Russian-Ukrainian war. On January 29, the Armenian government published a proposal to Azerbaijan: they plan to conclude a non -aggression agreement.
