"Occasional attempts threaten democratic processes": Britain imposes new sanctions against Russia

The country's government reported that the Star Blizzard cybergroup hackers, by order of the FSB, selectively merged and intensified the publication of confidential information of British politicians. The United Kingdom has declared sanctions against Russia through hacker attacks on British politicians, deputies, journalists and other persons within the limits of the FSB's attempts to "intervene in British policy". This was stated by Viceremier-UK Oliver Duden, writes The Guardian.

British Foreign Minister David Cameron said that "malicious attempts" of Russia, "threatening democratic processes" in the country, was exposed. According to him, a hacking attack was aimed at members of parliament, civil servants, analytical centers, journalists and non -governmental organizations. "This group, which is governed by FSB officers, also selectively poured and expanded information aimed at undermining politics both in the UK and in like-minded states," Duden added.

He added that the British agency caused the Russian ambassador through the activities of the FSB. At the same time, the Minister for Europe in the British Government Leo, during a speech in the House of Commons, said that the group related to the Russian FSB has selectively merged and intensified the publication of confidential information. He reported that the Unit in the FSB of Russia was involved in a number of cyber -spy operations against the United Kingdom.

It is also known that the data "merged" the Star Blizzard Cybergroup, which according to the National Cybersecurity Center, is almost certainly subordinated to the Center of 18 FSB of the Russian Federation, and is responsible for a number of malicious actions against British parliamentarians from many parties. "With these tools, the group selectively poured and expanded the publication of confidential information to achieve the goals of Russia's confrontation," he said.

Earlier, the British deputies complained that the hackers became the target, and Labor Ben Bradshaw stated in 2019 that, in his opinion, he had been interfering with Russia. In 2017, the Russian government was also suspected of involvement in the cyberattack in the parliament, which resulted in the breakdown of dozens of electronic accounts belonging to deputies and colleagues.

UK Foreign Minister David Cameron should give a press conference together with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during his stay in Washington. Cameron, former Prime Minister of Great Britain, has made a statement on the accusations of the UK government of hacking in Russia. "Russia's attempts to interfere with the UK's politics are absolutely unacceptable and aimed at threatening our democratic processes. Despite their repeated efforts, they have failed," he said.

Cameron also noted that the sanctions and challenge of the Russian ambassador are the exposure and counteraction of "malicious attempts. " "We shed light on another example of how Russia decides to act on the world stage. We will continue to cooperate with our allies to expose the hidden cyber -eberaactivity of Russia and hold Russia accountable for its action," Cameron said.
