For the first time in the history of Ukraine: the military exposed the corrupt officer and received money for him

The military had to defend his right to the law on the law promised by law for exposing a corrupt. For the first time in the history of Ukraine, a citizen who exposed the corrupt officer received a cash remuneration for him. It is reported by the National Anti -Corruption Agency (NAPC). Thus, it is noted that the NAPC made the first payment of corruption to the expenser on the basis of the decision of the Appeal Chamber of the Supreme Anti -Corruption Court of November 9, 2023 in Case No.

991/2197/22. The reward-won, a current serviceman who in 2020-2021 held the position of director of the Department of Internal Audit of the Ministry of Defense. In 2021, he made a statement to NABU and reported that he was offered a bribe of UAH 24 million for actions in the interests of one of the limited liability companies. In particular, the case concerned the involvement of specialists to carry out an unscheduled internal audit execution of the state contract.

The audit group had to draw up a positive audit report, which would allow the company to receive a full payment of more than UAH 400 million for the construction of a special object and to apply for future contracts from the Ministry of Defense (Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). NABU registered an application and filed in court.

The Supreme Anti -Corruption Court (WAKS) approved the sentence in the case on March 24, 2023 and condemned the person involved in the expert of the chief of one of the departments of the Ministry of Defense - to imprisonment for 4. 5 years. At the same time, the court refused to pay the reward to the revenge, explaining that he officially announced the crime in the framework of the exercise of his official powers and therefore was not entitled to the remuneration.

The revelator challenged the said decision and at the end of 2023 the WACS appeal granted his appeal and awarded the payment. According to the Law of Ukraine "On Prevention of Corruption", the revelator may receive 10% of the monetary amount of the subject of corruption crime or the amount of damage caused to the state after the adoption of the conviction of the court. However, the amount of remuneration may not exceed three thousand minimum wages set at the time of the crime.
